As of our most recent update (December, 2011), Virginia does not have audit laws. In 2008, Virginia granted the State Board of Elections the authority to run local pilots of post-election audits. See Section 24.2-671.1, “Pilot programs for audits of optical scan tabulators”: http://leg1.state.va.us/cgi-bin/legp504.exe?000+cod+24.2-671.1. While the pilot program was carried out, no legislation regarding audits has since been adopted. A review of the pilot program by Virginia's Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission can be read at: http://jlarc.virginia.gov/reports/Rpt400.pdf
